HK Audio COSMO provides arena-scale synchronisation for Stichijos 2: Pasadoblis

Kaunas, Lithuania (March 2026)

When Stichijos 2: Pasadoblis arrived at Žalgirio Arena, the scale of the production was immediately clear. Combining figure skating, dance and large-scale visual design, the show transformed the Baltic region’s largest multi-functional venue into a fully realised ice performance environment.

Delivered by Lithuanian rental and production specialist Garsas LT, with support from HK Audio, distributor Tamsta Profesionalas (UAB) and regional distributor Rock Distribution (Latvia), who supported the project with additional system elements, the project marked the largest deployment of HK Audio’s COSMO system to date – pushing the system to arena scale in one of the most demanding environments possible.

A complex arena, redefined for ice

With a 360° audience layout and capacity of 20,000, the system needed to deliver consistent, high-impact coverage across every part of the arena – from the ice surface to the highest seating tiers.

“This was no small project,” says Vicente Rios Silvestre, Application Support Engineer at HK Audio. “We were working with a wide space, with audiences both close to the stage and high up in the arena – achieving consistent coverage across all of those areas was the key challenge.”

But coverage was only part of the equation. The transformation from a live concert setup to a full ice rink introduced significant time pressure, leaving no margin for adjustment once the system was in place.

“We worked for two days without sleep to get everything ready,” says Elanas Gascevičius, Manager at Garsas LT. “Once the ice is in place, there’s no going back – everything must be right the first time.”

Built for scale and control

At the heart of the deployment was an extensive COSMO line array system, comprising 110 mid/high units and 149 loudspeakers in total. A combination of COSMO C10, C8 and C6 modules was deployed across ten hangs to achieve even coverage throughout the arena.

Low-frequency reinforcement was delivered through a combination of flown and ground-stacked subwoofers, with additional subs placed beneath the bleachers to ensure consistent low-end energy across the entire audience.

CONTOUR CX 210 LT systems were also used to cover the arena floor and front seating areas, ensuring seamless integration between system elements.

Supporting both audience and performers

In an ice-based production, audio is not just about the audience – it is fundamental to the performance itself.

“For the dancers, timing is everything,” explains Robertas Boimas, System Technician at Garsas LT. “If they hear multiple sources out of sync, it becomes impossible. They need to hear the rhythm clearly and consistently wherever they are on the ice.”

This placed a strong emphasis on system coherence and directivity across a constantly moving performance space.

“The flexibility of the system is a huge advantage,” Boimas continues. “Being able to combine different elements within a single array helps solve a lot of challenges, particularly in terms of coverage and directivity – it was straightforward to make it work.”

Overcoming acoustic and visual constraints

The production design introduced additional acoustic challenges, including reflective surfaces and large suspended scenic elements.

“The large silver baubles didn’t help us acoustically at first, but we found the right positions and managed to make it work,” says Aurimas Mitkus, Front of House Engineer for Stichijos 2: Pasadoblis. “In the end, we achieved stable coverage so that everyone in the arena could enjoy the sound.”

A project built on partnership

The project brought together partners from across Lithuania and the wider region, including local distributor Tamsta Profesionalas (UAB) and Latvia-based Rock Distribution, who supported the deployment with additional system elements.

“We’re very happy to be part of the project at Žalgirio Arena alongside Garsas LT and HK Audio,” says Jonas Skernevičius, Managing Director at Tamsta Profesionalas (UAB). “As the distributor, we worked closely with the integrator to deliver a reliable, high-quality sound solution – projects like this just show how strong partnerships help achieve great results.”

“COSMO can absolutely deliver on a large arena scale,” adds Alvis Ivanovs, Project Sales Manager at Rock Distribution. “The power, the coverage and the sound quality are all at a very high level – but ultimately, it’s the collaboration between partners that brings the whole project to life.”

For HK Audio, the project also reinforced the strength of its regional network. “Working on something at this scale naturally brings partners together,” concludes Vicente Rios Silvestre. “It’s where you really see how everything can align – both technically and operationally.”

Consistent sound, heard as one

By the time the show reached its finale, the system’s performance was clear. A full standing ovation reflected not only the performance on the ice, but the consistency and clarity of the sound throughout the arena.

“In a venue of this size, consistency is everything,” concludes Mitkus. “We made sure the entire arena experienced the show as one.”
