The LINEAR 9 110 XA and LINEAR 9 118 Sub BA are the first two active, network-compatible speakers from HK Audio to be certified for the Milan audio network protocol. With Milan, HK Audio extends the professional networking capabilities of the speakers with high class, reliable audio streaming and the full functionality of the Milan Audio network.
Milan is based on the AVB standard and delivers reliable, precisely synchronised audio streaming with extremely low latency over Ethernet networks. Devices from different manufacturers communicate seamlessly with each other via Milan without brand-specific restrictions, which simplifies the setup of a network infrastructure immensely. Milan reserves the necessary bandwidth for the audio streams in the network to effectively prevent disruptions in network traffic and dropouts.
Free Milan update for HK Audio speakers
The already Milan-certified speakers will only receive a free firmware update, which can be easily installed via the HK Audio DSP CONTROL software. This means that speakers already in use can be refitted without any extra cost or effort.
Currently, two speakers from the LINEAR 9 series have already received the official Milan certification: The compact 110 XA multifunctional mid/high unit and the powerful 18-inch 118 Sub BA subwoofer. Further speakers from the LINEAR 9 series and other active and network-compatible HK Audio Live Sound series are to follow.
HK Audio is currently working on updating the firmware of the certified speakers and will make it available for download on the LINEAR 9 product page in the near future.
